However, there may be some home quarantine plan changes that you may need to implement. The guidelines have changed over time as professionals learn more about COVID. Plan for Extra Days

You may have a home quarantine plan in place for 5 to 10 days at this point for your elderly loved one. However, it may be best to plan for 7 to 14 days or even a bit longer. There are many people who get COVID who are sick for quite some time. This is happening a lot with senior citizens. So, it may be best to plan for these extra days just in case you need to hire companion care at home providers or get extra help elsewhere in taking care of your elderly loved one.

Being Stocked Up

If you have already planned on what you will do if your elderly loved one gets sick, this may include not going to their house until they are out of quarantine. However, if that is the case, it is crucial they have enough food and other household products stocked up for up to that 2 week mark. If you can’t go over to their house for longer than that for any reason, you or a companion care at home provider could always drop stuff off at their door or have groceries delivered to their house.

Cleaning Products are a Must

Another thing that you may need to plan for is that the local store may be out of cleaning products, at least the ones that your elderly loved one needs. In order to plan for this, it may be a good idea to place an order to a store online and have the products shipped to your elderly loved one’s home. Even after they are out of quarantine, it would be a good idea for you and/or the companion care at home providers to help them disinfect their home. Antibacterial wipes, disinfectant cleaning products, and tissues are a great idea.

Everyone has some idea of what they will do if they or a loved one gets sick with COVID. However, it is still always best to be more prepared than to not be prepared enough. Not everyone experiences the same symptoms and the symptoms don’t last the same amount of time for everyone either.
