Being a frontline employee today means taking extreme risks each day in support of your clients’ well-being. Star Multi Care has recognized this sacrifice and as a thank you to their employees has participated in CROCS’ national campaign, “Sharing a Free Pair for Healthcare”. Through the generosity of Crocs and its sponsors, healthcare workers can receive a free pair of Crocs in recognition of their sacrifices. “We admire each of our employees and want to say thank you any time we have the opportunity”, said Stephen Sternbach, President/CEO of Star Multi Care. “We were fortunate in that we were able to secure numerous pairs of shoes which were distributed throughout our offices”, he confirmed.
Mr. Sternbach’s Company is comprised of six home health care branches located throughout New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Florida. Each week the Company services over 600 clients and employs approximately 500 employees. The clients they service are generally the weakest and most vulnerable of the population, the elderly and disabled. Therefore, they are also the most susceptible to the COVID-19 virus.
Recognizing these potential hazards, home health care workers continue to enter client’s personal homes each day with the ongoing potential of exposure to the virus. “I am proud to be an essential worker”, said Elizabeth Behm, a Home Health Aide from the Allentown, Pennsylvania branch, Extended Family Care.
This pride is felt by the entire Star Multi Care management team. “The true heroes are our field staff”, stated Mr. Sternbach. “We have done everything we can to assist the employees in mitigating any potential exposures”, he continued. “We continue to monitor the situation, update our procedures and secure the PPE (personal protective equipment) necessary to keep our employees and clients safe”. “These employees risk their own lives every day to help others so we try to treat them like the ‘Super Stars’ they truly are”, he continued.
