There are some tips that can help with this.  

Understanding Better

It would be best if you, the home care services providers, and your elderly loved one understand better about who is doing these scams. Your elderly loved one should double check their emails and phone calls. They should also make sure the mail that is coming is actually from who it says it is coming from. For instance, when a phone call comes in saying they are the IRS, if they are being rude or asking your elderly loved one all of their personal details, then it is not the IRS. It is likely a scam.

Checking Bank Accounts and Other Accounts Regularly

One of the main places that scammers usually attack is in bank accounts. They are good at hacking. They can also get information from your elderly loved one when calling or from information they submit online. It is important that you and the home care services providers help your elderly loved one to check their bank accounts and other accounts regularly. The sooner the suspicious activity is found, the more likely your elderly loved one will be to keep their money safe.

Reporting the Scammers

Unfortunately, there are many people who don’t report the scammers. You should remind your elderly loved one to tell you or their home care services providers if they feel someone is trying to scam them. There are different places where these scammers can be reported. The more people who report them, the more awareness their will be for other elderly adults to keep their information safe.

These are just some ways that you can help your elderly loved one to prevent scams. There are numerous types of scams that can occur. Some of them target bank accounts. Others will be found in emails and messages that your elderly loved one could click on. Your elderly loved one might also have scammers calling them to try to get their personal information.
